DSS Lied About Not Receiving Court Order – Femi Falana

DSS lied about not receiving court order - Femi Falana

Femi Falana, a Human rights activist and Omoyele Sowore’s lawyer has countered the Department of State Services (DSS) claim of not receiving a court order to release the “Revolution Now” convener.

Punch reported that DSS spokesperson Peter Afunaya, said they were yet to receive the court order for Mr Sowore’s release in a statement he released which was authorised by the Director-General of the agency, Yusuf Bichi.

“We have not received the court order. And his (Sowore’s) counsel is a very senior member of the bar and he knows the process to follow,” Mr Afunaya said.

When asked again if they have received the court papers in a telephone interview with Premium Times, the DSS spokesperson said “No we haven’t, thank you.”

Mr Falana however countered the claim by stating that he personally served the secret police the order and the notice of compliance by his client. He further said they were not directed by the court to serve any notice to the DSS but he did that for avoidance of doubt.

“First of all, their lawyer was in court. And he heard the order when it was made. As a legal practitioner, he had an obligation to inform his client. Secondly, since Sowore was to be released to me, I have been going to the SSS office personally since Tuesday.

“We were not directed to serve them. But we did that for the avoidance of doubt. We submitted his passports, got the affidavit of compliance and I personally served them. I also sent the copies to the SSS DG through his phone line, because I have his personal phone line.

“We were there for hours. The head of the legal department pleaded with me to return today (Thursday). When I returned, they locked the SSS gates against me,” Mr Falana said.

The Senior Advocate of Nigeria added that if the DSS is truly a law abiding institution, they would have sent their lawyers to verify if the Federal High Court ordered the release of Omoyele Sowore following report of its refusal to obey court orders in local and international media.

“I’m not sure the person who is making this statement has the authorisation of his principals. We have filed the form 48 regarding the contempt of court. And in that form, the court order was also included.

“The SSS has a duty to comply with this order and not only this one, but every other order regarding the liberty of Nigerians, because this is a constitutional democracy,” Mr Falana said.

Selena Gomez speaks on the?

Selena Gomez is speaking out about her hiatus from the public spotlight and mental health journey.

About a year ago, the singer went off the grid as she announced she would be taking a break from social media and later checked herself into a facility for help with her mental health.

Gomez has now opened up about what she called the “scariest” time of her life and her decision to finally seek help while receiving the 2019 McLean Award at the McLean Hospital’s annual dinner held in Massachusetts.

In her acceptance speech at the award ceremony, she said; “I think that we are better when we tell the truth and, so, this is my truth. Last year, I was suffering mentally and emotionally, and I wasn’t able to stay all that kept together. I wasn’t able to hold a smile or to keep things normal. It felt like all of my pain and my anxiety washed over me all at once and it was one of the scariest moments of my life”.

Gomez then explained that after she sought out help, doctors were able to give her a clear diagnosis, which she said was both terrifying and a relief. “Terrified, obviously, because the veil was lifted, but relieved that I finally had the knowledge of why I had suffered for so many years with depression and anxiety,” the actress explained.

With her new knowledge, she said she felt equipped to face it head-on. And while it is still an ongoing battle, Gomez admitted that she is in a much better place a year later.

“After a year of a lot of intense work. I am happier, I am healthier, and I am in control of my emotions and thoughts more than I’ve ever been. So, I’m very happy about that” Gomez went on to say that while it isn’t easy to share her story with the world, she knows that others will benefit from hearing it.

Actress Demi Moore Shares Shocking Confession of Engaging in Threesomes To Please Her Ex-Husband Ashton Kutcher in New Book ‘Inside Out’

Actress Demi Moore shares shocking confession of engaging in threesomes to please her ex-husband Ashton Kutcher in new book

Demi Moore went all out in her new memoir ‘Inside Out’ as she dropped some bombshell confession of her turbulent relationship with her ex-husband, Ashton Kutcher and others.

The book which was released on Tuesday September 24, prompted a media tour as the actress revealed being the victim of sexual assault, her turbulent years with ex-husband Ashton Kutcher and her spiral into alcohol and substance abuse.

Demi began her story by discussing her troubled childhood. She recounted digging pills out of the mouth of her teenage mother at the age of 12 and being taken to bars to get attention from men by her suicidal mother. This led to her being sexually assaulted by a man her mother knew. The man claimed that her mother “whored” her out for $500.

“I don’t think it was a straightforward transaction, but she still did give him the access and put me in harm’s way,” she told ABC’s Diane Sawyer.

Her mother battled alcoholism and suicide at that time and she also learnt that the man she thought was her dad wasn’t her biological father. The traumatic incident made her believe that she “wasn’t wanted” and she didn’t “deserve to be here.”

The actress also believes that she took fellow actor, Jon Cryer’s virginitywhile they were on set of 1984’s No Small Affair.

“I played a young nightclub singer, and Jon Cryer played the nineteen-year-old photographer who falls in love with her, in his first movie role,” Moore wrote.

“Jon fell for me in real life, too, and lost his virginity to me while we were making that movie.”

She continued, “It pains me to think of how callous I was with his feelings — that I stole what could have been such an important and beautiful moment from him.”

Jon Cryer however denied the claim in a tweet which read;

“Well, the good thing about this is she doesn’t have to feel bad about it anymore, because while I’m sure she was totally justified making that assumption based on my my [sic] skill level (and the stunned look on my face at the time), I had actually lost my virginity in high school.”

He did, however, confirm that she was right about one thing: “I was over the moon for her during a very troubled time in her life,” he added. “I have nothing but affection for her and not a regret in the world.”

The actress also talked about cheating on Freddy Moore who she was married to for 5 years in her memoir. According to her, she was just 18 when they married got in 1980 she cheated on him shortly before tying the knot.

“The night before we got married, instead of working on my vows, I was calling a guy I’d met on a movie set,” Moore wrote. “I snuck out of my own bachelorette party and went to his apartment.”

“Why did I do that? Why didn’t I go and see the man I was committing to spend the rest of my life with to express my doubts? Because I couldn’t face the fact that I was getting married to distract myself from grieving the death of my father,” she continued. “Because I felt there was no room to question what I’d already put in motion. I couldn’t get out of the marriage, but I could sabotage it.”

She went on to share details of her marriage to Bruce Willis which lasted for 13 years (1987-2000). The actress said he felt her career was making her take so much time away from the family and that made him unsure of their marriage.

On her marriage with Bruce who she has three daughters with, Moore wrote, “It’s a funny thing to say, but I’m very proud of our divorce.”

“I think Bruce was fearful at the beginning that I was going to make our split difficult, and that I would express my anger and whatever baggage that I had from our marriage by obstructing his access to the kids — that I’d turn to all of those ploys divorcing couples use as weapons,” she continued. “But I didn’t, and neither did he.”

Moore admitted the split “wasn’t easy at first, but we managed to move the heart of our relationship, the heart of what created out family, into something new that gave the girls a loving, supportive environment with both parents.”

In fact, Moore said, “We felt more connected than we did before the divorce.”

Also narrating all that happened in her 8 year marriage to her much-younger ex-husband Ashton Kutcher, the  “G.I. Jane” star  said she was coerced into threesomes that left her with feelings of “shame.”

“I put him first,” Moore wrote. “So when he expressed his fantasy of bringing a third person into our bed, I didn’t say no. I wanted to show him how great and fun I could be.”

Although Moore said the women who participated in the threesomes were “good people,” she called the experiences “a mistake.”

“Because we had brought in a third party into our relationship, Ashton said, that blurred the lines and, to some extent, justified what he’s done,” Moore wrote of her former husband’s alleged cheating.

On her  “gradual downward spiral” during her 45th birthday trip to Mexico, Demi said Kutcher took a drunken photo of her to shame her. She revealed that she started drinking heavily and was “passing out and slipping under the water” in a hot tub, an act which made Kutcher who carried her back to bed furious.

“Ashton had encouraged me to go in this direction. When I went too far, though, he let me know how he felt by showing a picture he’d taken of me resting my head on the toilet the night before,” she wrote. “It seemed like a good-natured joke at the time. But it was really just shaming.”

The actress lost a 6-months pregnancy, following a miscarriage she suffered 2 years into her marriage to Kutcher.

“I can’t even really bring fully to words how lost, empty, desperate, confused … I really lost sight of everything that was right in front of me, which was the family that I had,” Moore said of her feelings after losing the child, a girl who she would have named Chaplin Ray.

After her divorce from Kutcher in 2013, she began abusing substances like Vicodin and alcohol. She revealed that her three daughters stopped speaking to her, and her former husband and friend, Bruce Willis, grew distant as well.

“I lost me,” Moore told Diane Sawyer during her Good Morning America interview. “I think the thing if I were to look back, I would say I blinded myself and I lost myself.”

Reports of Cold War Between Buhari, Osinbajo Are Mere Gossip – APC Governors

Reports of cold war between Buhari, Osinbajo are mere gossip- APC governors

The All Progressives Congress (APC) governors under the auspices, Progressive Governors Forum, have denied media reports that there is a cold war between President Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

The governors described the reports of a feud between President Buhari and Vice President Osinbajo as ”mere rumour and another scheme of opposition mischief makers”.

Speaking during the inauguration of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) Steering Committee on Media and Communication yesterday September 26th, Lagos state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who is also the chairman of the committee, said the alleged face-off in the Presidency was just ‘gossip’.

Speaking through his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat, Sanwo-Olu explained that there is no crack in this aministration.

“There is no crack. It is in the realm of gossips. By the time they said that, the Vice Presieent went to Zimbabwe to represent this country. It was the prerogative of the president but he nominated him.  Like I said earlier, it is in the realm of gossips because only on Wednesday, the Vice President presided over the Federal Executive Committee (FEC) meeting which is the highest decision making body in the country. So, we don’t listen to rumours. We deal with facts and the fact is that they are working together. So, it is all rumour  and don’t take it that serious,” he said

Rape allegation: Nigerian female pastor Busola Olotu makes shocking revelations about Biodun Fatoyinbo, says she believes Busola Dakolo (video)

The last has certainly not been heard in the rape allegation leveled on clergyman, Biodun Fatoyinbo by Busola Dakolo, wife of singer Timi Dakolo.

Reverend Busola Olotu, a clergywoman who Biodun Fatoyinbo saw as a mentor, had an exclusive interview with media personality, Adesuwa Onyenokwe, where she revealed that Busola’s sister, Funmi Ayeni, had come to her in 2011 to recount how her sister, Busola, had become troubled after she was allegedly raped by Fatoyinbo who was her pastor at the time.

Pastor Olotu who is a lawyer by training, said she spoke with Busola at the time her sister came with the story and she could tell that Busola was telling the truth as she exhibited the traits of a rape victim who was very troubled. Pastor Olotu said three members of her church who had also come out to seek counsel after they were raped, had also fingered Fatoyinbo as the person who raped them.

Pastor Olotu in her interview said she had a revelation where she saw Fatoyinbo on bed with another lady and when she challenged him in shock, he told her that he had a ”Grace for such things”. Pastor Olotu said after her revelation, she met with Fatoyinbo’s then spiritual father, Reverend Emmanuel Oset, and to her shock, Pastor Oset replied ”So he is still doing this thing?”.

Pastor Oset in another interview with Onyenokwe, also said that many ladies had come to him in the past to make same allegation as Busola against Fatoyinbo. According to Reverend Oset, the allegations were glaringly true. He said he cut ties with Fatoyinbo in 2014 after he tried to reach him when the Ese Walter scandal happened in August 2013.

BBNaija : “Mike Is A Complete Gentleman! I’m Learning Alot From Him’ – Funke Akindele

Irrespective of the duel between Tacha and Mercy earlier today, Big Brother Naija housemate, Mike still seems to be on the spotlight as award winning actress and producer of ‘Jenifa’s diary’ Funke Akindele has taken to her twitter to commend him for his gentility.

Recall that Mike recently had an argument with Tacha, and during the course of the argument, Tacha rained insults on him and pushed him aside, an action which could have caused a negative reaction from Mike.

Rather than attacking Tacha for her misdemeanor, Mike chose to ignore the ranting housemate, a decision which portrayed the nature of a true gentle man.

His wife had also commended him for the manner which he handled the situation.
Her post read;

Life is a teacher and there are people that will always test you just to get the reaction they’re looking for. Thing is it’s how you react that shows true CHARACTER & what makes you the BIGGER person.

In my husbands defence which I had no doubts about, he handled himself well with composure as always because he was raised to be a true gentleman!’

His mother’s goodwill message to fans and well wishes cannot be left out too. Few days ago, Mike’s mother had also praised her son for being a role model and a great son to her.

Just today, Funke Akindele voiced out her opinion on the housemate via her twitter platform, calling him the definition of a true gentleman and also revealing that she’s learning alot from him.

PL: African Trio Tipped To Score This Weekend

Africa’s best sportsbook maker, mybet.africa is offering a special odd of 10.0 to sports bettors for matchday seven, if last season’s three Premier League Golden Boot award winners each score in their respective matches.

Liverpool’s Mane and Salah failed to score last weekend but Arsenal’s Aubameyang scored to put him in contention again for this season’s top scorer award ahead of the duo who are bent to break the jinx as Sheffield United host Liverpool while Arsenal travel to face Manchester United.

927201921042-swnaqdcp5k-9691614574338 3709708715581

Aubameyang has six goals this season in the EPL, placing third on the top scorer chat with Mane and Salah placed at the 6th position with four goals apiece.

Ten-man Arsenal twice battled back from a goal down to beat Aston Villa 3-2 with Aubameyang late effort securing the points in a thriller at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, but elsewhere, league leaders, Liverpool maintained their perfect start to the Premier League season as first-half goals from Trent Alexander-Arnold and Roberto Firmino secured a 2-1 win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge that left them five points clear at the summit without Mane and Salah scoring.

Most pundits are linking the goal drought of Liverpool’s duo, both on the local scene and UEFA Champions League due to the Newcastle saga. However, mybet.africa firmly believes this drought will end in matchday seven against Sheffield United and Aubameyang will also increase his tally in the match against Manchester United on Monday.

IAAF World Championships Seek Bolt Successor

The first IAAF World Athletics Championships of the post-Usain Bolt era gets underway on Friday with the sport desperately seeking a new superstar as it tackles a slew of ongoing doping controversies.

More than 2 000 athletes from over 200 countries and territories will take part across 10 days of competition at Doha’s Khalifa International stadium, where organisers say a state-of-the-art air-conditioning system will shield competitors from ferocious heat and humidity.

The championships are seen as a key staging post for Qatar as the Gulf state prepares for the vastly greater challenge of hosting football’s World Cup in 2022.

For athletics fans, the championships will also provide clues to likely contenders at next year’s Tokyo Olympics.

As ever, all eyes will be on the sprints, where the retirement of Jamaican superstar Bolt in 2017 has left a gaping chasm where an icon once stood.

The likeliest successor to Bolt’s throne appears to be US star Noah Lyles, the Diamond League champion and overwhelming favourite for gold in the 200 metres.

Lyles, 22, is expected to target a 100m-200m double in Tokyo next year but is only entered in the longer event in Doha.

That leaves the way clear in the 100m for rival Christian Coleman, who is chasing his first major outdoor championship title.

But the 23-year-old heads into the championships struggling to shake off sceptics after he avoided a drug ban earlier this month.

Coleman could have been facing a two-year ban after it was revealed he had recorded three drug-testing “whereabouts” failures in a 12-month period. He escaped suspension on a technicality.

In the women’s sprints, meanwhile, Jamaica’s Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce is chasing a record fourth 100m gold at the age of 32, two years after skipping a season for the birth of her son in 2017.

Elsewhere, the men’s and women’s 400m hurdles could see records fall.

Norway’s Karsten Warholm is set for a battle royale in the men’s event with American champion Rai Benjamin. In the women’s race, Olympic champion Dalilah Muhammad is hoping to improve her new world record of 52.20 set at the US trials in July.

There is no place in Doha though for South Africa’s 800m star Caster Semenya.

The double Olympic champion misses out after losing her long-running battle against regulations requiring her to take medication to lower her naturally-elevated testosterone levels.

The Coleman controversy, meanwhile, was an unwelcome reminder for the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) that track and field remains vulnerable to doping controversies despite efforts to clean up the sport.

Only this week, the IAAF was confronted with multiple drug-related headlines, with news of Russia potentially facing the threat of new sanctions while German TV channel ZDF broadcast revelations of doping by Kenyan athletes.

On Tuesday, meanwhile, Olympic hammer throw champion Dilshod Nazarov of Tajikistan was suspended after a re-tested sample from the 2011 world championships tested positive for a banned substance.

The IAAF has taken a hard line on Russia in the wake of the doping scandal which erupted in 2015-2016, this week voting to maintain the country’s four-year-old suspension from its competitions.

IAAF chief Sebastian Coe, re-elected to a second term as president on Wednesday, nevertheless painted a positive picture for the sport on the eve of the championships, citing the creation of the Athletics Integrity Unit as a step forward in the battle against doping.

“I genuinely am very pleased and proud of the way the sport has come together,” Coe told reporters.

Coe is now looking forward to a shift in emphasis for his second term, saying he plans to focus on how to grow the sport.

“It’s been a tough four years, the first two were the reforms – the second two years were really making sure they were implemented,” he said.

“I want the next four years to be the fun bit… I want the sport to grow.”

Coe meanwhile has been wowed by demonstrations of the stadium-cooling technology that will be deployed at the competition’s main venue in Doha.

Despite daytime temperatures of around 38 degrees Celsius, the air-conditioned stadium’s climate is maintained at 23-25 degrees.

“The technology at the Doha stadium is jaw-dropping,” Coe said.

Organisers, however, have had to improvise for the challenge by staging the marathons at midnight when temperatures will be lower.

Why Being Friends With Benefits Is a Bad Idea

tmp_yvrVYl_64f39f23da61e7f0_adults-barefoot-bed-1246960.jpg

The idea of having a friend with benefits sounds amazing. After all, it’s kind of the best of both worlds: you have a friendly companion with whom you can enjoy intimate experiences, yet you’re perfectly free to see other people, and you have no problematic conceptions of something happening long-term. What could possibly go wrong?

The problem is, something usually does. More often that not, someone ends up resenting the other person for the way things are playing out, leading to the destruction of not only your physical relationship but your friendship as well.

While being friends with benefits sounds amazing, things rarely go according to plan. If you’re interested in a situation where you can have a physical relationship with someone while still pursuing other romantic interests, you might be better off pursuing a polyamorous relationship instead — here are five reasons why.

1. Even if you start off on the same page, things change.

It’s an age-old cliche: two people start off wanting a relationship free of commitment, then one person catches feelings. The idea of catching feelings is often demonized, but it’s really nothing to be ashamed of. Maybe you start your physical relationship during a time when you’re not interested in commitment, but a few months later, your priorities begin to change. That’s called evolving as a person — and one of you is bound to evolve eventually.

2. Someone will eventually call it off.

There’s no way around it. Even if neither of you catches feelings, eventually one of you will move out of town, start a relationship with someone else, or decide you’ve had enough. That means that no matter what happens, one person will eventually end your friends-with-benefits arrangement — and that can hurt (or at the very least, make things awkward).

3. You’ll see them flirting with other people.

Because you’re friends, you’re probably going to hang out outside of the bedroom, and this means that you will inevitably see them flirting with other people. While that’s not a problem for some people, it can trigger jealousy in others, even if you logically know you’re not in a monogamous relationship.

4. It will change the dynamic in your friend group.

It’s not that you should worry about what your friends think of you, but sleeping with one of your friends will undoubtedly change the way people in your friend group interact. It’s possible that not all of your friends will be comfortable with your arrangement — even if you try to minimize flirting with each other in public.

5. It can build resentment that will affect your friendship.

Finally, it’s really important to consider if this person is someone you’re willing to end your friendship with. If you’re casual acquaintances, it’s possible that becoming friends with benefits could maybe, MAYBE work out. But if you’re old friends with a lot of history? That kind of friendship probably isn’t worth risking for a few nights of fun.

Votes For Salah Void Because Signatures Were in Capital Letters

Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah has had several arguments with the Egyptian Football Association

Two votes for Mohamed Salah in the Best Fifa men’s player award were not counted because signatures were in capital letters, says Fifa.

The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) said acting Egypt coach Shawky Gharib and captain Ahmed Elmohamady voted for Liverpool forward Salah.

Fifa said: “The signatures on the voting forms were in capital letters and thus seemed not valid.”

The forms also lacked a mandatory signature by the EFA general secretary.

Barcelona’s Lionel Messi won the award on Monday ahead of Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo and Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk.

Salah finished fourth in the voting, although the invalid votes would not have affected the standings.

Football’s world governing body Fifa said voting was supervised and monitored by independent observer PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Switzerland.

It said it contacted the EFA twice on 19 August to submit properly signed voting forms but did not receive a response in time for the votes to be counted.

Fifa also said the Egyptian FA had “undergone a few structural changes” after the voting period opened.

Since the awards ceremony Salah has removed “Egypt” from his Twitter profile, which now reads: “Footballer for Liverpool FC.”

He also posted a tweet which translates as: “Whatever they do to try to change my love for Egypt, they will not succeed.”

Egyptian Football Association president Amr El-Ganainy said he talked with Salah. He said: “I talked with Salah explained to him it was an administrative mistake.”

In 2018, Salah came third in the men’s award and also took the Puskas award for goal of the season.

Each nation has three voters – the national team coach, the national team captain and a media representative – who each select their top three players in the world.

The EFA said Gharib and Elmohamady picked Salah as their first choice.

The media representative Hany Danial’s choices were Sadio Mane followed by Cristiano Ronaldo and Salah.

Salah threatened to quit the national team last year following a row over his image rights.

More voting controversy…

Nicaragua captain Juan Barrera called into question the authenticity of his country’s votes in the awards as he said he did not submit any votes.

Fifa’s records show that Barrera voted for Lionel Messi as best player and Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp as best manager.

“I did not vote in the awards #TheBest2019 any information about my vote is false,” 30-year-old midfielder Barrera tweeted.

Fifa said it has asked the Nicaraguan Football Federation to investigate the matter after receiving “votes signed by the player”.

The Nicaraguan federation have been approached for comment.

The Sudanese Football Federation also said its published votes did not match the votes it cast.

Fifa said: “We have checked the voting documents submitted by the Sudanese FA and all documents are signed and confirmed with the official stamp of the Sudanese FA.

“Having compared with the vote sheets, we confirm that we have the right votes signed by the player/coach. We are asking the Sudanese Football Federation to inquire on this matter.”
