Teresa and Peter have shared a love for all things Disney ever since they met. But they didn’t want their families to have to travel across the country from New York for their wedding, so they did the next best thing and brought Disney to them. The Bear Mountain Carousel at Bear Mountain State Park was the perfect location for their Haunted Mansion-inspired reception. Peter wore shoes based on the Disneyland attraction, and the movie’s soundtrack played throughout their wedding day. The bride wore a stunning custom-made dress that complemented the dramatic and dark florals. Their fun wedding cake was adorned with skull pumpkins with mouse ears, while the toppers were their own skeleton renditions!
One of the many highlights from the couple’s Halloween wedding was definitely the merry-go-round that guests were able to ride all night.
Facebook wants to know what you’re going to do before you do it, and the company is well on its way toward making that (admittedly creepy) dream a reality.
Andrew Bosworth, Facebook’s vice president of VR and AR, announced Monday the acquisition of “neural interface platform” CTRL-labs. The stated goal of the acquisition is to build a wristband that “captures your intention” by reading electrical signals sent through your body.
It’s all in the ostensible name of “empowering you with control over your digital life,” and, coming from a company that has repeatedly misled users regarding matters of privacy and personal data, sounds a tad bit sketchy.
Today we’re thrilled to share that Facebook has agreed to acquire CTRL-labs. Our team is excited to join @boztank and his group Facebook Reality Labs to empower people with non-invasive neural interfaces at scale. http://bit.ly/2l1rcmK
However, let’s allow the good Bosworth an opportunity to explain the vision himself.
“You have neurons in your spinal cord that send electrical signals to your hand muscles telling them to move in specific ways such as to click a mouse or press a button,” he wrote in a Facebook post. “The wristband will decode those signals and translate them into a digital signal your device can understand, empowering you with control over your digital life.”
Because control over your digital life definitely equals letting Facebook decode and interpret your body’s electrical signals.
But wait, there’s more. Bosworth continued that the benefit of this technological breakthrough will be … easier photo sharing?
“It captures your intention so you can share a photo with a friend using an imperceptible movement or just by, well, intending to,” he explained.
The Menlo Park based company, of course, has talked a big mind-reading game before. Facebook first announced its plans to peer into the fleshy grey matter depths of your skull way back in 2017. And just this past July, Facebook gave a public update on its plans to “decode silent speech” with some sort of brain interface.
Facebook clearly felt it needed to bring in additional hired guns to make its bizarre privacy-obliterating dream a reality. Here’s hoping that CTRL-labs adds a little self-awareness to the mix.

Barcelona’s Lionel Messi won the best men’s player at the Best Fifa Football Awards in Milan as Juventus’ Cristiano Ronaldo and Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk missed out on the top prize.
It is the sixth time Messi has been voted the world’s best, after wins in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2015.
The 32-year-old Argentine helped Barcelona win La Liga and reach the semi-finals of the Champions League.
United States forward Megan Rapinoe won the best women’s player award.
Klopp gets coach prize ahead of Guardiola and Pochettino
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was named men’s coach of the year after a season in which they beat Tottenham 2-0 to lift the Champions League.
The Reds also finished second in the Premier League with 97 points – the third-highest tally recorded in the competition.
Klopp was nominated for the award along with two other Premier League bosses – Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola and Tottenham’s Mauricio Pochettino.
“It is great, nobody expected this 20, 10, five, four years ago that I would be standing here,” said Klopp, whose team have won all six league matches at the start of the 2019-20 season.
“We know what an incredible job you [Mauricio Pochettino] did and what Pep did. I have to say thank you to my outstanding club Liverpool FC.
“To the owners thank you, they gave me an incredible team. I have to thank my team – as a coach you can only be as good as your team is. I’m really proud of being manager of such an incredible bunch of players.”
In accepting the award, Klopp announced that he is joining the Common Goal initiative set up by Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata. It means the Reds boss will donate 1% of his salary to the charity, which pledges to “generate social change and improve lives”.
Alisson and Bielsa are also winners
Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson was also a winner as he took the best goalkeeper prize ahead of Manchester City’s Ederson and Barcelona’s Marc-Andre ter Stegen. As well as success in the Champions League, Alisson was first choice for Brazil as they lifted the Copa America on home soil.
Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa won the fair play award after he ordered his team to allow Aston Villa to score an uncontested equaliser during their 1-1 draw in their Championship match in April.
Bielsa’s side had gone ahead controversially when the Villa players stopped as they expected the ball to be kicked out of play when Jonathan Kodjia was injured, before the Argentine intervened.
Eighteen-year-old Daniel Zsori won the Puskas award for the best goal with his spectacular 93rd-minute overhead kick for Debrecen against Ferencvaros, just after he came on as a substitute for his Hungarian league debut in February.
His strike beat Messi’s chip from the edge of the penalty area against Real Betis and Juan Quintero’s powerful 30-yard free-kick for River Plate against Racing Club.
Fifa Fifpro Men’s Team of the Year
Three players who featured in last season’s Premier League were included in the Fifa Fifpro Team of the Year, but none from champions Manchester City.
Alisson and Van Dijk were included, as was forward Eden Hazard, who was at Chelsea in 2018-19 before joining Real Madrid in the summer.
Seven City players were included in the 55-man shortlist – goalkeeper Ederson, defenders Aymeric Laporte and Kyle Walker, midfielders Bernardo Silva and Kevin de Bruyne and forwards Raheem Sterling and Sergio Aguero – but none of them made the final 11.
Tottenham trio Christian Eriksen, Harry Kane and Son Heung-min all missed out, as did Manchester United pair David de Gea and Paul Pogba, as well as Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante.
Liverpool had two players selected but five others – Trent Alexander-Arnold, Andrew Robertson, Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah – were overlooked.
Goalkeeper – Alisson (Liverpool/Brazil)
Defenders – Matthijs de Ligt (Ajax and Juventus/Netherlands), Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid/Spain), Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool/Netherlands), Marcelo (Real Madrid/Brazil).
Midfielders – Luka Modric (Real Madrid/Croatia), Frenkie de Jong (Ajax and Barcelona/Netherlands), Eden Hazard (Chelsea and Real Madrid/Belgium)

Former Governor of Anambra State, Chukwuemeka Ezeife, has said that the elderly people in South East may embrace the Nnamdi Kanu-led Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, if the other parts of Nigeria conspire and deny the zone Presidency in 2023.
He also said that the agitation and crusade being carried out by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and his group for a Biafra referendum were forced on Ndigbo by the country.
Ezeife accused the Nigerian government of making deliberate efforts towards pushing the Igbos out of the country by denying them occupying sensitive positions including leading any of the security agencies.
He told Vanguard: “You can’t beat a person and say don’t cry. What Nnamdi Kanu and others are doing is crying because they are beaten and they are doing it in a way that is non-violent.
“Therefore, Nigerians should appreciate their method. I am happy the rest of the world, Europe, European Union, they met with Nnamdi Kanu and they saw point with what he was saying.
“The (United Nations) UN also met with Nnamdi Kanu in Switzerland, I don’t know whether they have changed their mind they invited him to the United Nations General Assembly, but now having met with him in Switzerland, they may not meet him again in New York.
“So, I think Nnamdi Kanu is doing what is forced on us (Ndigbo) because some of us believe that we should find out more mature ways of going about it.
“But the ideal is very lawful, they are crying for a referendum, that is a democracy. I think if Igbo people are denied the Presidency in 2023, then, no matter how unpopular IPOB may be among the older people everybody may rush it.”
On the 2023 Presidency and the agitation by the South West and the North to go for the plum position, he said: “If you want to deny them (Ndigbo) 2023 Presidency, then deny them citizenship of Nigeria.
“I am feeling that it is because of rejection that other Nigerians reject Igbo Presidency that (Mallam Nasir) el-Rufai wants to be President, that (Asiwaju Bola) Tinubu wants to be President and it will favour them. If that happens, the real meaning is that the Igbos should cease being citizens of Nigeria.
“That there is no point belonging where you are rejected. One rejected does not reject himself. Among those who reject you, you don’t want to force yourself to belong.
“So, there is this talk about Biafra. IPOB is promoting Biafra because of various problems and punishments against Ndigbo. Because of many problems cause the Igbos in Nigeria, they are trying to leave. But the Federal Government of Nigeria has been very busy pushing the Igbos out of Nigeria.
“We are traders, we import like containers etc, but when our people import things, the things are seized and auctioned. Ibeto was one of the strongest people in cement, after some time, he was crippled. Instead of going up, he was going back to give advantage to Non-Igbo.”
Oh man! It was sad to see Innocentia Sibi bow out of the competition. Those who have been following her journey from the audition phase till last night know how the amount of hard work Inno has consistently put in.
Although Innocentia’s singing talent is unquestionable, a barrage of social media trolls didn’t quite “understand” the hype around her. A common denominator from these comments was that her albinism was some-how used as leverage by the judges in deciding to put her through to the Top 17.
Last night, the 29-year-old graced the Idols stage for the last time . Dressed in a pink dress, Inno bowed out in absolute style. Innocentia Sibi’s elimination from the competition received mixed reactions on the streets of Twitter.
The mood wasn’t all sombre, though. The remaining contestants had impressive runs with their performances.
The Top 9 Idols contestants are, Snenhlanhla Sneziey Msomi, Luyolo Yiba, Nqobile Gumede, Mmangaliso Gumbi, Nolo Seodisha, Viggy and Virginia Qwabe, Micayla Oelofse and Dinky Kunene.

Chelsea defender, Fikayo Tomori, has said he would be willing to play for the Super Eagles.
The 21-year-old, however, insisted he has not decided which country to choose.
Tomori is eligible play for Nigeria, where his parents are from, Canada, where he was born and England where he currently lives.
According to him, his choice might be determined by which of the countries give him a call-up.
“I’m a citizen of all three (countries) so we’ll see. I was born in Canada and lived there about seven or eight months old. My family is Nigerian, obviously I live in England.
“It’s nice to have that. I can’t play Under-21 football anymore so the last international break I didn’t get called up to anyone. Next one maybe we’ll see,” Dailymail quoted the defender as saying.

In an effort to discharge one of its statutory responsibilities of encouraging what is good and forbidding what is haram, Kano State Hisbah Board has destroyed over 196,400 bottles of alcohol.
Speaking shortly after flagging off the destruction exercise at Kalemawa in Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area, Kano State Governor Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, said Islam has strongly condemned drinking of acohol and all other intoxicants that can distort mental capability of a person.
“In Islam, drinking of alcohol is strongly forbidden being one of the backbones of committing sins either big or small and that has been stated out at several places in the Holy Qur’an.
“Our Islamic scholars, religious and community leaders should join hands together in the crusade against such social vices because issue of taking alcohol is not only Islam that forbids it, to good Christian, consuming alcohol is also prohibited,” he said.
The Governor represented by his Deputy, Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, assured that all other shari’a agencies in the State would enjoy similar promotion and support with State Hisbah Biard to enable them discharge their mandates.
He said “This Government is a Shari’a compliant Government. We will continue to support the Hisbah Board more especially as we witnessed the launched of New Hisbah Commanders of all the 44 Local Government Areas and also witnessed the rebranding and taking the State Hisbah Board to the next level.”
Ganduje, therefore, implored people in the Smstate to accord the needed support and cooperation to the officials of the Hisbah Board, pointing out that, “giving them all the supports to discharge their duties will not only promote their work but ensure that our society become free from evil social acts.”
In his remarks, the Commander General Kano State Hisbah Board Sheik Haroon Muhammad Sani ibn Sina disclosed that the board had succeeded in preventing selling and drinking of alcohol under the provision of penal Court section (401) of 2013 shari’a law in Kano.
According to him, the board has got court order under this section to destroy over 12 tippers of alcohol confiscated while trying to bring them in to the state which are meant to distort the life of the teaming youth.
“It is against this background, I call upon the suppliers and those that consume the alcohol to shun away from this act as Hisbah Board will not relent on its effort to fish out the perpetrators and take them to court at any given time for prosecutions ” he assured.
Earlier, the Assistant Commander General Hisbah Board Malam Idris M. Umar, quoted several verses from the Holy Qur’an that prohibit the selling and drinking of alcohol as well as its implication to human life.
In an attempt to create a better space for the girl child, TV personality Bonang Matheba wants to open a primary school in Soweto. In June, Queen B shared a tweet that she was certain of her dream of eventually being able to build a school. “I’ve always wanted to build a school. Seems like it’s actually gonna happen.
In a sit-down interview with TshisaLIVE recently, Bonang expressed how she felt it was her country’s duty to help equip young girls with the education they deserved.
My late grandmother used to live in Soweto hence I want the school there. I am very fond of that place because she lived there.”
She explained that the reason she wanted to build a primary school was that she had always dreamed of becoming a teacher, but the media world called her instead.
“I am surrounded by a lot of teachers. My one aunty is a primary school teacher, my mother is a former teacher and my father is a lecturer at the University of Limpopo.” Bonang added that after turning 30 she realised that “God gives to you so that he can give through you” and she didn’t want to just be a powerful influential person.
“It will be a private school but open to the public where no one will have to pay. It will be a community-driven school where community people will get to work at the school as well as mothers in the area.”
Bonang explained that through her various platforms she will make sure she makes girl’s lives easier and plans to do so through opening the primary school.
Moghel also explained that she had set a target for herself to put 300 girls through school before 2030, via her bursary fund. I’ve taken in ten girls this year because everyone else has graduated. I just want to find ways of how I can be a champion for somebody else. That means a lot to me.

Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has said Jose Mourinho is entitled to his opinion.
Mourinho slammed United players, after they lost 2-0 to West Ham on Sunday.
The Portuguese, who was sacked last season and replaced by Solskjaer, claims he “doesn’t see any improvement” from the team he managed and says there were no positives for the side to take from Sunday’s defeat.
Asked about Mourinho’s remarks, Solskjaer told reporters: “Well, I think he’s got a right to his opinion.
“Of course, we lost here last year, it’s always a difficult ground to go to and we hope we should do better than we did. We hope for better.
“But the key moments, they grasped and we didn’t, I have to say. Two fantastic finishes from two good left feet and we just didn’t take the chances when we had them.”

Former Newcastle striker, Alan Shearer, has praised ‘warrior’ Matteo Guendouzi, after the midfielder inspired a second-half turnaround in Arsenal’s win over Aston Villa.
Shearer also praised the Gunners’ substitutions, after 10-man Arsenal twice came from behind to beat Aston Villa 3-2 at the Emirates on Sunday.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored a late winner after the Gunners twice had to equalise, with Villa strikes from John McGinn and Wesley cancelled out by a Nicolas Pepe penalty and a goal from substitute Calum Chambers.
“The change in their attitude was incredible in the second half.
“Saka came off and Chambers on, they committed men forward and played with more pace. The intent was really there.
“It started from Guendouzi, he was magnificent.
“They needed a warrior and he stood up.
“We have questioned Arsenal’s character so we have to give them praise when they do well.
“Unai Emery’s substitutions worked perfectly,” Shearer said on BBC’s Match of the Day.
Mavin Producer, Don Jazzy and fans of the Big brother Naija reality show on Sunday reacted as housemate, Frood emerged winner of the Ultimate veto power game of chance.
DAILY POST recalls that Frodd emerged winner after he picked four random pictures, one of which matched the exact duplicate inside the veto power box.
Biggie had said the housemate that picked the exact duplicate with the one inside the box would emerge winner.
Ebuka also added that the winner will nominate five housemates for possible eviction on Monday.
This means five housemates will be up for eviction next week.
Reacting, some Nigerians described Frodd as a child of grace.
