Show HN: Code2prompt – Generate LLM prompts from your codebase I made code2prompt, a CLI tool to generate LLM prompts from your codebase with support for prompt templating and token counting. I initially wrote this for personal use to utilize Claude 3.0's 200K context window and it has proven to be pretty useful so I decided to open-source it. Let me know what you think. https://bit.ly/3wIdtFF March 11, 2024 at 09:32PM

Show HN: Brand Kit – Find available package names for your next OSS project Hey Hacker News! A while back I built a tool to search multiple package repositories at once while trying to think of a name for new open source projects. I realised it might be useful for the wider community, which is why I've released it here! It's still a piece of work-in-progress, but I'd be delighted to take feedback on what other features might be helpful to have. Suggestions (and PRs welcome): https://bit.ly/3T2FUWs Long time lurker, first-time poster. Thanks for being an awesome and kind community! https://bit.ly/3TsgXVU March 10, 2024 at 08:58AM

Show HN: I made a tool to transform Newsletters into Podcasts I'm excited to share Podletter, a project born from my struggle to keep up with my overflowing inbox of newsletters. The idea? To transform this content into audio, making it accessible on the go. What sets Podletter apart is its simplicity. With just a few clicks, users can listen to their favorite newsletters as podcasts, making it easier than ever to stay informed, learn, or just be entertained without the need to stare at a screen. You can try it out directly on Podletter.io Looking forward to your thoughts and feedback! https://bit.ly/3VrysXV March 8, 2024 at 11:58AM

Show HN: A directory of open source alternatives to proprietary software Hi, Piotr here I was collecting nice open-source companies for quite some time now. Mostly to take some inspiration and learn from their code. Last week, I though it would be fun to learn this Astro thing everyone's talking about. So I thought building a directory website out of this collection was pretty good idea. After 2 days of building, OpenAlternative was born. It's a community driven list of open source alternatives to proprietary software and applications. Enjoy and thank you for your support! https://bit.ly/3uYXKlh March 8, 2024 at 10:21AM

Show HN: Manta – A tool for FPGA Debugging and Rapid Prototyping https://bit.ly/3Tr1RzK

Show HN: Manta – A tool for FPGA Debugging and Rapid Prototyping Hi HN! I'm Fischer, and I'm super stoked to share a project that I've been working on for a little over a year: Manta, an open-source, cross-platform, vendor-independent tool for debugging and rapid prototyping with FPGAs. This was originally my Master's Thesis at MIT, where I developed it for our course on FPGA design. We needed an alternative to vendor debugging tools, which only supported x86 machines running Windows or Linux. We were able to patch in macOS support with VMs, but as more students came bringing ARM-based devices, we needed a new tool. So I developed this. It's called Manta, and I've just released v1.0.0. It's written in Python using Amaranth HDL, which allows it to run on nearly any machine, and export vendor-agnostic Verilog-2001. It lets you read and write to arbitrary registers and memory on the FPGA, and provides an integrated logic analyzer. It's modular, so you can use any number of these functionalities in any combination, as long as you've got a UART or Ethernet connection to the FPGA. Next up on the docket is adding support for more advanced interfaces like Wishbone, AXI, AHB, and Avalon. And maybe even adding a Web UI for debugging with a logic analyzer in the browser. Or peeking and poking at individual registers. Or issuing arbitrary AHB3 transactions. I'd be super curious to hear your thoughts on the tool! And if you want to kick the tires, be my guest :) https://bit.ly/48KbKwU March 8, 2024 at 01:49AM
